Britannia, Lulworth and White Heather off Norris Castle, Cowes
Stephen Renard was born in 1947 at Huddersfield. Having earned a degree at Liverpool University Stephen Renard took up a teaching post in Liverpool. His teaching career was rather short lived as he turned his hand to art, which he had a talent for from an early age. By this time he had also developed a love of sailing.
The second phase of Renard’s life was spent as a professional portrait painter and children’s comic illustrator. Renard took to painting ships as a hobby having purchased a boat in 1981. His paintings soon took on a life of their own, becoming very popular among the sailing fraternity.
Success has followed success and today Stephen Renard is considered to be one of the world’s leading painters of yatchs and yatching events.
